Deeply inspired by the storybook beauty of Sintra, Mariana and Jacob embraced the rolling hills, lush landscape, and soft light of their Portuguese vista as the foundation for their wedding day. Much intentionality was framed around celebrating their beautiful destination and one another.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]Mariana met Jacob at a college party she was hosting for her roommate’s birthday. Jacob was one of her roommate’s friends. An invitation was passed along to make sure he’d be there – alongside many others. Jacob almost didn’t come that night; his family was visiting for his graduation. But since he lived in the building across the street, he decided to stop by. Both Mariana and Jacob remember the moment he arrived. Mariana introduced herself immediately, since he was the only guest she didn’t already know. They spent the rest of the evening talking on the rooftop, exchanged numbers, and once Jacob returned from his post-graduation trip, they went on their first date. They were engaged during a post-Valentine’s outing, rescheduled after Jacob had been sick during the holiday. The couple woke early, grabbed a cab downtown, and headed to their favorite breakfast spot – making a detour through Washington Square Park, the heart of their college campus. Beneath the iconic arch, by the fountain, and while pausing for a photo, Jacob dropped to one knee. Mariana burst into tears and blurted out, “Yes! Get up, yes!” as the two embraced. Onlookers at the park erupted in applause and cheers. The two spent the rest of the day wandering the West Village, stopping for prosecco and bocadillos. [/field]

Guests dined on entrecôte steak and fresh grouper before finishing off the meal with lemon mousse and sorbet with crumble (plus wedding cake!).

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Mariana’s favorite design detail was their chuppah. Despite months of planning, the first time she truly saw it was while walking down the aisle. “It took my breath away,” she said. “Seeing Jacob waiting for me underneath it made it all the more magical.” Their setup featured rich floral arrangements, with tender light filtering through the branches overhead. The celebration continued inside an antique greenhouse, a space defined by rare architectural character and natural harmony. [/field]

The couple’s wedding cake featured three tall tiers with lush buttercream piping and a golden seal.

[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]Jacob recalled reading the letter Mariana left for him that morning: “It was only two lines, but they said everything.” Just before the ceremony, the couple signed their Ketubah with an intimate group of loved ones, setting a heartfelt tone for all that followed. They held an interfaith ceremony that blended their Jewish and Catholic backgrounds, led by both a rabbi and a priest, which allowed them to create something new that still felt true to tradition. The day held space for every emotion – they wept, they laughed, and they felt profoundly blessed as they listened to speeches over dinner.
